Brand identity for startups.
A startup needs a brand before it has a product, and then needs it to survive two pivots, a fundraising deck and a hiring page, all in the same year. I design identities that are decided fast, hold together on a phone screen and do not need redoing after the seed round.
Work so far: several of the larger Berlin startups, TIER among them, a virtual reality studio in London, an eyewear startup in Miami and two app concepts of my own. The Berlin cases are on their way to the site.
What matters here.
01Decide in weeks, not months
A founder cannot spend a quarter on a logo. I bring several directions to the first review, each already on an app icon, a landing page and a deck slide, so the decision is made on real things and made once.
The app icon is the logo
For most startups the brand is met on a phone: an icon, a notification, a store listing. The mark is designed at that size first and scaled up, not the other way round. Reality Lab London's R holds a head in VR glasses at icon size.
Built for the pivot
The product will change. The identity is built around a name, a type system and a palette that do not describe one feature, so when the feature goes, the brand stays.
Templates the team can run
Nobody hires a designer for every LinkedIn post. The handover includes deck, social and document templates in the tools the team actually uses, with the rules short enough to be followed on a Friday evening.

02Questions.
03We are pre-seed and have no money for an agency. Is that a problem?
That is who I work with. One designer, a fixed price for a tight scope, and the things that matter first: mark, type, colours, landing page, deck. The rest can come with the next round.
Do you design the product as well?
The first screens, the design system and the app icon, yes. For the day-to-day product work I hand over to your in-house designer with a system they can build on, or I stay on retainer.
Can you work with an existing name we cannot change?
Yes. Most startups arrive with a name and a domain already registered. The identity is built to make that name look inevitable.
How do you work with a remote team?
Video, Figma and a shared board. I work from Berlin and Barcelona with teams in London, the US and Germany, and the time difference has never been the problem.
What does it cost?
After the first call you get a fixed quote for the scope we agree on. No price list, and no surprises on the invoice.
How fast?
A first identity in four to six weeks is realistic when decisions are made quickly. Tell me the launch date and I will tell you what fits before it.
A startup? Write to me.
Two sentences are enough: what it is and by when. The rest comes out in the conversation.
