Motion design
Motion design.
A brand is seen moving more often than standing still: on a phone, on a screen in a shop, in a story. Motion is how the mark breathes, and it is designed with the same three colours and the same rules as everything else.
Recent films and loops: Prism League, Aura Seat, Trizon Timing and Forester Coffee, each one part of the identity from the start rather than added later.
What you get.
01The logo in motion
How the mark appears, holds and leaves: three seconds that open every film and every reel. For Trizon the line draws itself and becomes a timing counter; for Prism League a beam of light splits into the palette.
Loops for the feed
Five to fifteen seconds, made to repeat without a seam, sized for Instagram, TikTok and the website. Light enough to autoplay, quiet enough to watch twice.
Brand films
A minute or less, cut from your footage or shot for the purpose, with the type and the graphics of the identity. Forester Coffee's films keep the grain of the printed photographs and move at eight frames a second.
Files that work everywhere
MP4 and WebM for the web, ProRes for the agency, Lottie or SVG animation for the site itself when the loop should stay sharp at any size.
Motion.
02Questions.
03Can you animate the logo we already have?
Yes. A good animation often shows what the mark is made of better than the still does. I will tell you if the mark needs a small redraw to move well.
Do we need to shoot footage?
Not always. Many loops are built from the graphics of the identity alone. When real footage helps, I either work with what you have or plan a short shoot with a photographer.
How does motion fit with the rest of the identity?
It is designed at the same time. The rules for timing and easing sit in the same guide as the rules for colour and type, so the next film looks like the last one.
How long does it take?
That depends on your deadline, and I plan around it. The first concepts come within a week; you can pick one, combine two, ask for changes or for new directions. Most projects are done in three to five weeks.
What does it cost?
After the first call you get a fixed quote for the scope we agree on. No price list, and no surprises on the invoice.
Who will I be talking to?
Me. No account managers, no hand-off to juniors. You talk to the person who designs.
A film, a loop, a logo that moves? Write to me.
Two sentences are enough: what it is and by when. The rest comes out in the conversation.
