Brand identity for architecture and construction.

A planning office, a builder, an engineering firm. These companies are judged on precision and on staying power, and the brand has to say both without a single decoration: on the site sign, the truck, the drawing title block and the tender document.

Work so far: Geo Office Berlin, an architecture and planning company; Diker, a group of construction and architecture companies in Berlin; Taak, an architecture and construction company with decades behind it; and a bilingual website for an engineering firm in Tirol.

What matters here.

01

Built to last ten years

A construction company changes its logo once a generation. Anything tied to a passing style is out from the start. For Taak the mark puts a vine leaf and an open door into one shape; it will look the same in 2036.

02

Measure is the message

For Geo Office Berlin the idea was exact calculation as the promise of quality, so the mark reads as a measuring device before it reads as a letter. The industry is in the mark without a crane or a roof in sight.

03

It has to work alone

On a site fence, a vehicle door or a helmet the wordmark is often too small. The mark has to stand on its own. Diker's stacked roof slopes do, and the wordmark joins them only where there is room.

04

Paper still counts

Tenders, plans and reports are printed and stamped. The identity includes the title block, the report cover and the letterhead, set so that an engineer can fill them in without breaking them.

Questions.

03

We have had the same logo for 25 years. Do we need a new one?

Not necessarily. Sometimes the mark is fine and the rest is missing: type, colours, templates, the website. I look at what you have first and tell you honestly which parts to keep.

Do you do the website as well?

Yes, design and development, with project pages that show plans and photographs properly and a structure your office can extend itself. Bilingual when your clients are.

What about vehicles, site signs and workwear?

All of it is part of the job: the files come in the right formats for the sign maker, the vehicle wrapper and the embroiderer, with the sizes and clearances written down.

Can you work with an architecture office on its own brand?

Yes, and it is a good conversation, because architects have opinions about type. The result is usually quieter than they expect and holds up longer.

What does it cost?

After the first call you get a fixed quote for the scope we agree on. No price list, and no surprises on the invoice.

How long does it take?

A full identity usually takes eight to twelve weeks. If a site sign or a tender is due earlier, the mark comes first and the rest follows.

Two sentences are enough: what it is and by when. The rest comes out in the conversation.
